Veneers Make Your Smile Look Like New

It's not unusual to develop a few flaws in your smile as the years go by. Small pieces of tooth enamel may chip away when you eat hard foods, or discolorations can leave your smile two-toned. Luckily, dental veneers keep imperfections out of sight and can even change the shape or length of a tooth. Your Nottingham, MD, dentists, Drs. Emma Galvan and Karl Meek can help you transform your smile with veneers and other cosmetic dentistry services and procedures.

How do dental veneers work?

Veneers cover the fronts of your teeth where imperfections are most noticeable. The restorations are made of porcelain and are about as a thick as a fingernail. They're attached to your teeth with dental cement and last 10 to 15 years or even longer.

Before you receive veneers, your Nottingham dentist will remove a very thin layer of enamel from your teeth, then make an impression of your mouth. The impression is used to ensure that your restorations fit well and look natural. You may leave the office with temporary veneers, which you'll wear until your permanent restorations are finished in a few weeks.

Are veneers a good choice for me?

One of the best things about dental veneers is their versatility. They can be used to address several different types of flaws, including:

  • Minor Damage or Imperfections: Whether you're concerned about a tooth with an uneven surface or have a few chips or cracks, veneers offer a simple way to improve your appearance.
  • Gaps: Slight spaces between teeth aren't uncommon and don't always require orthodontic treatment. If your gaps are small, adding a few veneers to your teeth will close them.
  • Discolored or Dull Teeth: Veneers can whiten your entire smile or make one discolored tooth look just like your other teeth.
  • Shape or Length Issues: The restorations extend too-short teeth and also make over oddly shaped teeth. They're an excellent solution if you have one or two teeth that are crooked, pointed or twisted.
